34 turtles that were hidden in the styrofoam boxes were transported by a passenger car. When arriving at Cam Pha city, they were caught.

Today (September 19), Traffic Police Team No. 2, Quang Ninh Provincial Police said that they had just seized a passenger car while transporting 34 rare turtles listed in the world’s red book.
Specifically, at 4:00 p.m on September 17, at km 137 + 600, Highway 18 (the section through Quang Hanh Ward, Cam Pha City), Traffic Police Team No. 2, Quang Ninh Provincial Police coordinated with Cam Pha Police and Environmental Police Department to inspect the 16-seat passenger car BKS 14B-03279.
At the inspecting time, the car that was driven by driver Khong Van Tien (was born in 1982) and his assistant Vi Van Thang (was born in 1996, residing in Dong Ma village, Tien Lang commune, Tien Yen rural district) moved to the direction of Cam Pha – Mong Cai and transported 34 individual turtles of all kinds.
According to the authorities, 34 individuals of all kinds were alive and were contained in a styrofoam box. Of these, there are 3 individualities that are Northern yellow-fronted box turtle, 5 individualities that are four-eyed turtle, and 26 individualities that are salamander turtle.
All turtles are listed in the world’s red book and they are on the list of endangered rare species that need priority protection.
At the inspecting time, driver Tien could not present documents and invoices related to the turtles mentioned above.
