NOVEMBER 11-14th, 2024 / THUA THIEN HUE
NATIONAL UNITY DAY EVENT
On November 11th and 14th, the event “Integrating Wildlife Conservation Communication into the National Unity Day Event” took place in Thuong Long and Thuong Quang communes (Nam Dong district, Thua Thien Hue province). The event was organized by the non-profit company Choice and WildAid Vietnam in collaboration with local authorities.
Aiming to raise community awareness, especially among ethnic minorities and forest-dependent people, the event delivered engaging and creative messages about wildlife conservation.
- Short films with clear and emotional messages successfully reached the hearts of the audience.
- The impressive exhibition featuring creative products and vivid images of wildlife attracted a large number of participants, sparking a love for nature and a sense of environmental protection in each individual.
- Interactive games cleverly integrating wildlife conservation messages provided both entertainment and meaning for participants, helping them better understand their role in protecting wildlife.
The event exceeded expectations, not only attracting enthusiastic participation from the community but also receiving numerous commitments to join hands in protecting wildlife. The smiles and bright eyes of the participants were clear evidence of the widespread impact of this meaningful message!

OCTOBER 26-27th, 2024 / THUA THIEN HUE
A LUOI MARKET EVENT
The A Luoi market is considered a distinctive cultural feature of the highland people in Thua Thien Hue province. It is an opportunity for people to share local products, exchange regional cultures, and share information about life. On this occasion, the event “Integrating Wildlife Conservation Communication into the A Luoi Market Event” was held to disseminate messages about protecting endangered and precious wildlife species in the community. The event was co-organized by the non-profit organization Choice, WildAid Vietnam, in collaboration with the A Luoi Youth Union, the A Luoi People’s Committee, the Sao La Special Conservation Forest Ranger Station, and Hue traditional craft artisans. A number of notable activities were organized at the event, such as exhibitions, games, performances, and Sình village painting experiences. Through these activities, the event not only preserves and promotes the unique cultural features of the Thua Thien Hue highlands but also strongly spreads the message of wildlife conservation to the community. From the useful information in the exhibitions, the fun games, the emotional performances to the Sình village painting activities, online and offline commitment signing, all contribute to raising awareness, inspiring love, and responsibility for protecting nature in the heart of each participant. This is evidence of the connection between culture and conservation, working together for a sustainable future for the environment and wildlife!

OCTOBER 19-24th, 2024 / THUA THIEN HUE
NO BUSHMEAT TOURISM
To encourage the community and tourists visiting Hue to refrain from consuming wild animal meat and limit the use of products derived from wild animals, while promoting Hue as a nature-friendly tourist destination that preserves its long-standing culinary heritage. Simultaneously, to contribute to building Thua Thien Hue into a centrally-governed city with the motto “Wildlife-friendly Tourism,” the non-profit company Choice, in collaboration with WildAid Vietnam and the Thua Thien Hue Forest Protection Department, is organizing a “Wildlife-friendly Tourism” campaign featuring engaging experiences, interactions, fun games, and attractive prizes.

JULY 13th, 2024 / THUA THIEN HUE
TALK SHOW "ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION FROM A BUDDHIST PERSPECTIVE"
Our living environment and biodiversity are increasingly threatened by negative impacts such as climate change, environmental pollution, deforestation, and wildlife poaching, pushing many species to the brink of extinction and causing serious consequences for human life. Therefore, the seminar “Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation from a Buddhist Perspective” was organized by the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha of Thua Thien Hue Province, in coordination with the Thua Thien Hue Forest Management Board and the Choice Not-for-profit Company. The aim is to call for the participation of monks, nuns, Buddhists and the whole community in not killing, harming and trading in wildlife. At the same time, encourage each individual to actively participate in protecting biodiversity, the environment and wildlife conservation.

TALK SHOW "WILDLIFE CONSUMPTION AND DISEASE RISKS"
For centuries, the exploitation and consumption of wildlife have been a burning issue in society, harboring the potential for disease outbreaks and spread. To raise awareness about the harmful effects of wildlife consumption, the talk show “Wildlife Consumption and Disease Risks” was held at the TRT Television Hall on June 14th, 2024.

APRIL 14th, 2024 / MINEOLA, NEW YORK
WINTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON WILDLIFE PROTECTION IN TRADITIONAL MEDICINE
The conference focused on presentations on traditional medicine methods for treating diseases as an alternative to wildlife products. In addition, the conference also discussed solutions to promote healing methods that are consistent with respect for harmony and sustainability, ethical and environmentally friendly healing. In addition, the conference also mentioned that those who contribute to the extinction of endangered wildlife are not those who belong to the traditional medicine community. But they are the smugglers, farm owners, or traditional medicine practitioners who do not comply with the law and profit illegally from the trade in endangered wildlife.

APRIL 6-7th, 2024 / BACH MA NATIONAL PARK
"BACK TO THE WILD" EXPERIENCE PROGRAM
To help young people better understand the rainforest ecosystem and its rare flora and fauna, Choice in collaboration with WildAid Vietnam has organized the “Back to the Wild” experiential extracurricular program. Recently, students from Tran Cao Van Secondary School and Thong Nhat Secondary School had an exciting field trip to Bach Ma National Park on April 6 and 7. Through the extracurricular activity, students had the opportunity to learn more about endangered wildlife and the consequences of hunting, trafficking, and consuming wildlife. The activity not only provides additional practical knowledge about wildlife but also helps young people cultivate a love of nature and all living things.

“Buy 1, Get 15” exhibition aims to raise awareness of the stricter penalties and deter illegal purchases ahead of Tet, or Lunar New Year, beginning on January 25th. The campaign features WildAid Ambassadors Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’Hen Niê, well-known journalist MC Trac Thuy Mieu, pop singer Quang Vinh, and founder of a major Vietnamese lifestyle brand Helly Tong. The ambassadors appear in PSAs and billboards sharing the message, “Avoid buying, giving or receiving illicit wildlife product gifts for the Lunar New Year.”
